November 18, 2025 – A new option is now available under the External Breastforms Program. Eligible persons can now choose between a regular breastform or a swim breastform, at their convenience, for a period of 24 months. However, the reimbursement terms of the program remain unchanged.
This program is intended for persons eligible for health insurance who have undergone a mastectomy or have breast aplasia. It provides reimbursement for external breastforms purchased in Québec. The addition of swim breastforms aims to meet the specific needs of eligible persons who wish to participate in aquatic activities while benefiting from a suitable product.
This change improves the accessibility and quality of services offered to women with breast cancer. It was made following consultations with persons working in the field and recommendations made by specialists in the fitting of breastforms.
