Register for or deregister from the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan

Everyone who has taken up residence permanently in Québec must have prescription drug coverage at all times. Two types of plans provide this: the public plan, administered by RAMQ and private plans (group insurance plans and employee benefit plans). Please note, however, that you must join a private insurance plan, if you qualify.

Unless otherwise indicated, you must answer all questions.

Persons temporarily staying in Québec

In most cases, if you are a temporary Québec resident age 18 and older, you are not eligible for the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan. You can register with a private insurer. Children under age 18 residing in Québec for more than 6 months are eligible for the public plan.
