Important notice

COVID-19 and covered health care

Please refer to the webpage Questions and answers to find out more about covered health care during the pandemic.

Request a review of a decision

You can apply for a review of a RAMQ decision. You have 6 months, from the date on which you are notified of the RAMQ decision, to do so. There is no cost involved.

Send your application

Depending on your situation, you have to submit your application online or by mail. Make sure to have all necessary information (points being contested, facts and dates) and the documents required to file your application.

File an application for review

Exceptional medications

If your application is for a payment authorization for an exceptional medication, please contact your physician.

Examination of your application

We undertake to process your application in keeping with our values: respect, integrity, fairness and collaboration. As specified in the Health Insurance Act, we have 90 days to render our decision following the receipt of an application for review.

An agent may contact you to clarify your expectations and complete your file. Examination of your application is based on the new information you provide and the documents on file for the entire period in question. If information is missing, this could delay the processing of your file. After your file has been reviewed, the agent will notify you in writing of the decision rendered by RAMQ.

Transmission of documents related to an application underway

After you have filed your application for review, you can still provide additional supporting documents. For our part, we may also require additional information so that we can effectively process your application.

For fees billed in Québec by a health professional, you may send us your documents online.

Send documents

For any other type of service, send us your additional documents by mail to the following address:

Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec
Service de l’application normative et de la révision
C. P. 6600, succ. Terminus
Québec (Québec)  G1K 7T3

Extending the deadline

If you send us documents after you have filed your application for review, you have 90 days in which to do so, in keeping with the Health Insurance Act. This deadline applies from the date of receipt of the documents. If we consider that additional information or documents are needed to render our decision, the deadline will be extended by 90 days, in which case we will notify you accordingly.

If these deadlines are not met, you may wait for the decision to be rendered by RAMQ following your application for review, or contest the one already handed down before the Tribunal administratif du Québec (TAQ).

You may contact the TAQ if you believe that the decision rendered by RAMQ following your application for review does not respect your rights. You have 60 days, from the date on which you are notified of the decision, in which to do so.
