- Exceptional medication: The Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan covers such drugs under certain conditions.
- Active ingredient: Active substance in the drug that has a therapeutic effect such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
- Manufacturer: Business that manufactures or distributes the drug.
- Strength: Concentration of the active ingredient contained in a given drug.
- Dosage form: Pharmaceutical form of the drug (tablet, capsule, syrup or suppository, for example).
- DIN: Drug identification number issued by Health Canada. The number may also be a fictitious code issued by RAMQ if Health Canada has not given the drug a DIN.
