Register for health insurance Temporary stay in Québec: child For your child to be registered for health insurance while you are temporarily staying in Québec, they must meet the eligibility requirements. You may have to prove that you intend to stay in Québec with your child for more than 6 months. When you are temporarily staying in Québec, you are not eligible for the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan, but your underage children are. They are registered with the plan when you apply for their Health Insurance Card. Children are also exempt from the waiting period. Requested documents You must attach all the required documents in PDF or image format (JPG). The list of documents will be specified according to the answers provided in the registration form.
