In light of the information brought to its attention regarding the practices of several health cooperatives, which contravene the Health Insurance Act, the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec will continue to intervene decisively to have them cease operation.

Inspection Unit Implemented to Look Into Fees Charged to Insured Persons

2010–2011 Annual Management Report

The Régie's 2010–2011 annual management report, incorporating the activity report of the basic prescription drug insurance plan, is now available (in French only).
It was tabled by Minister of Health and Social Services Yves Bolduc at the National Assembly
on Wednesday, September 21.

The report gages the Régie's efforts to meet the commitments of its Statement of Services for the Public and assesses the goals of its strategic plan. It also mentions the challenges facing the Régie and presents the year's highlights.

Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan – Maximum Annual Premium Lowered

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Mr. Yves Bolduc, has announced that, for the first time since the advent of the plan, the maximum annual premium paid by insured persons is being lowered. Also, for the first time since 2002, there is a freeze on the contribution payable by insured persons at the pharmacy for the purchase of prescription drugs.

Amendments to AREQ Members' Prescription Drug Insurance Coverage

A judgment rendered by the Superior Court on February 28, 2011 has resulted in amendments to the prescription drug insurance coverage provided to members of the Association des retraitées et retraités de l'éducation et des autres services publics du Québec(AREQ).
