Services Covered in Québec

Insured persons can obtain medical services free of charge under the Health Insurance Plan.

In addition to medical services, the Health Insurance Plan covers a range of other services designed to meet special needs. Persons insured under the Public Prescription Drug Insurance Plan are also covered for prescription drugs.

Please note that neither health insurance coverage nor prescription drug insurance coverage is intended for tourists visiting Québec.

To be entitled to insured healthcare services, you must present your valid Health Insurance Card.

If you don't have your Health Insurance Card with you or if your card has expired, you must pay for the services you receive and then apply to the Régie for a reimbursement. For information on how to apply, consult the section on use of your card, which outlines situations where you can receive healthcare services free of charge, even if you don't present your card.
