Protection of Personal Information

The Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec attaches great importance to protecting the personal information it holds. For this reason, it has implemented the following procedures to make sure this information remains confidential.

• The personal information obtained by the Régie:

  • is used in such a manner as to preserve its confidential nature and only for the purposes for which it was obtained;
  • is available only to those employees who need to use it in the performance of their duties;
  • may be disclosed only to the person involved or to another party authorized by that person.

• The person in charge of access to documents and protection of personal information sees to it that the protection of personal information remains a top priority for all the Régie's employees.

The Régie is authorized to disclose personal information in certain specific cases, but only to the departments or public agencies listed in the Health Insurance Act. In addition, disclosure of this information must comply with the conditions and procedures provided for in the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, and is made within the scope of written agreements that are approved by the Commission d'accès à l'information. • the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec.
