Mission
Since its creation in 1969, the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec has acquired a solid reputation. Under the authority of the Minister of Health and Social Services, the Régie is directly associated with the major healthcare issues and plays an essential role vis-à-vis the public.
The Régie's mission testifies to its importance in the health and social services system:
The Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec administers the public health and prescription drug insurance plans: it informs the public, manages the eligibility of persons, remunerates health professionals and ensures the secure flow of information.
In accomplishing our mission, we identify with four guiding values, which contribute to continued excellence and integrity.
Respect consists in taking a second look, where necessary, so as not to needlessly offend the persons concerned by a given problem.
Responsibility lies in the desire and ability to perform each task to the best of one's ability and to apply rules with discernment.
Fairness means properly assessing what is due to each citizen, and must not be confused with equality. Fairness translates into a concern for rendering equitable decisions, in keeping with the spirit of the applicable rules.
Vigilance requires always being mindful of the importance of improving the health of Quebecers. Vigilance must guide our actions and priority must be given to rendering decisions that are fair.
