Travelling

Under certain conditions, you can travel and still be covered by the Québec Health Insurance Plan.

Eligibility for the plan

Refer to the section on temporary stays outside Québec to make sure you remain covered during your trip.

Healthcare services covered during your trip

During your trip, you may benefit from healthcare services insured outside Québec if you remain eligible for the plan. However, as a general rule, the Régie de l'assurance maladie does not reimburse the full cost of these services, and certain services, such as prescription drugs, are not covered at all. The Régie therefore strongly recommends that you take out private insurance.

For further details, consult the section on services covered outside Québec.
